Community Wellness and Crisis Response Team (CWCRT)

Operating through a collaborative co-response model in partnership with the Belmont Police Department and the East Palo Alto Police Department.

A Felton Institute Community Wellness and Crisis Response Team (CWCRT) clinician and a law enforcement officer co-respond to calls in partnership with the Belmont Police Department and the East Palo Alto Police Department, working together to support individuals experiencing a mental or behavioral health crisis with care, dignity, and connection to community resources. While officers focus on maintaining safety at the scene, the Felton CWCRT clinician provides compassionate, person-centered support by listening, assessing immediate needs, offering emotional support, and helping individuals access appropriate mental health services and ongoing care within the community.

Our team serves Belmont and East Palo Alto community members of all ages who are experiencing a mental health emergency or behavioral crisis.

Our services include:

  • Early intervention
  • Outreach and engagement
  • Referrals for psychiatric assessments
  • Ongoing follow-up support

CWCRT is comprised of trained clinicians who co-respond with local law enforcement to provide mental health support.

The CWCRT team:

  • Conducts thorough intake screenings and assessments
  • Provides service linkages to ongoing mental health and medical services
