Information, Referral, & Assistance program

The Information, Referral, and Assistance program (IR&A) links clients of the San Francisco Human Services Agency (SF HSA) to services and resources to help meet their essential needs.

Felton Institute’s Information, Referral, and Assistance program (IR&A) is a pilot program. We aim to prevent vulnerable community members from slipping through the cracks by providing community resource referrals paired with extensive follow-up to verify clients were connected effectively.

No fees are charged to participants.

Our Mission

The Information, Referral, and Assistance team provides culturally responsive and accessible services to San Francisco community members. Our team of trauma-informed and compassionate Information Specialists provide services via phone for an average of one month, depending on follow-up needs.

We aim to empower clients to address self-identified needs using their own support systems in partnership with the extensive network of available San Francisco resources.

We connect clients to resources for:

  • Employment
  • Physical and mental health
  • Housing and shelter
  • Food access
  • Legal issues
  • Etc.

Cost:

Our services are provided to (eligible SF HSA referred) clients free of charge.

Languages we speak:

Our program comprises team members who speak English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese, enabling us to provide clients with culturally and linguistically appropriate services.

  • Clients who need additional follow-up after calling about county benefits are referred by the San Francisco Human Services Agency (SF HSA) to Felton’s Information, Referral, and Assistance program (IR&A).
  • Referrals are submitted directly from SF HSA’s Launchpad system to the CIRCE Software cloud-based system developed in partnership with Felton Institute as a complete, easily adaptable, cloud-based system leveraging Salesforce for managing human services.
  • Our team reaches out to the client within one business day and provides continuous follow-up for an average of one month to ensure clients have effectively connected with community resources.
