BeneFITS 2 Work (BFITS) provides FREE, ongoing employment & government benefits counseling and workshops to seniors and adults with disabilities. The program is open to retired individuals and those looking for part-time or full-time work.

Navigating government benefits is a complex and confusing world. For job seekers, how income from employment may affect one’s benefits is an important consideration. “Will it affect my housing?” “Will I be disqualified?” “Will I be worse off than when I started?” “Will I have to pay the money back?” Uncertainty about the answers to these important questions can create barriers to finding meaningful employment. Enter BeneFITS 2 Work.
BeneFITS 2 Work (BFITS) is a pilot program dedicated to providing FREE, comprehensive benefits counseling services to qualifying San Francisco residents. Through workshops and one-on-one counseling sessions, participants will gain knowledge about how their benefits work, what the parameters are for continued enrollment, and other benefits programs they may be eligible for. Our program works to clarify misconceptions that may exist about various program qualifications, allowing participants to make informed decisions when entering or re-entering the job market.
We can answer questions about:
- Social Security (SSA, SSDI, SSI)
- CalFresh/ SNAP
- Medi-Cal & Medicare
- Veteran’s Benefits
- County Adult Assistance Programs (CAAP)
- TANF/CalWORKs
- Employment Training & Services
- Subsidized Housing
How to Qualify:
- San Francisco resident
- Age 60+ OR
- Age 18+ with proof of disability
